Post Treatment Medical Care

Post Treatment Medical Care

There are many reputable drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs available. Completing one of them can be an important place to begin the recovery journey.

However, nobody leaves a rehab program cured. Instead we believe that treatment induces a “remission” from addiction. In order to maintain this remission, people with a history of addiction need ongoing medical care and support after they leave treatment.

Historically, patients have gone to treatment facilities where they have, in many cases, been treated by doctors with expertise. This care has been an important part of the success that they have enjoyed. We believe that it is important to continue this care after treatment is over. In some cases doctors in the treatment centre may be able to provide that care in an after care setting. In others, there is a family doctor who can help with this. However, in many cases there is not a doc available. Sometimes, the doc that was seen prior to treatment may have prescribed medications that contributed to the problem. In either case, it is important to have a therapeutic relationship with a provider who understands where you are and what you are trying to accomplish.

Good addiction-recovery focused medical care requires an understanding of the nature of addiction and how this affects other common medical and psychiatric conditions.

We are a group of providers who are trained in and very much enjoy treating people who are trying to overcome addiction. We are committed to providing respectful, compassionate and thoughtful care to people over time wherever they are in their recovery process. As such we understand that addiction is a disease that occurs over time (chronic) and has a tendency to recur. As such, patients with addictive disorders needs care over time in order to have the best possible outcomes.

“No other rehab I’ve been to has been able to provide an environment which enabled me to be myself and grow so much.”
